Gonzalez optioned
Hey, just working on my notebook here in between games, but wanted to give you a heads up that the D-Backs optioned Enrique Gonzalez to Tucson after the game and activated Terry Mulholland off the disabled list.
Tough break for Gonzalez, but he took the news very well. He said he understood the move and he liked the fact that Bob Melvin told him he thought he had shown in just two starts that he was going to have a very long career in the big leagues.
D-Backs wanted to add an arm to the bullpen and Mulholland was due to come off the DL. With the DH today it means the D-Backs will have to find another starter for Wednesday. Don't be surprised if Russ Ortiz is activated to pitch that one.

Aw, man, Ortiz coming back? We all knew it would happen eventually, but I guess we just hoped, deep down, it never would.

I think the D-Backs should have a lefty in the 'pen but when Mulholland came in and gave up that two run jack to the first and ONLY batter he faced I would have given up left-handedness itself just to have Gonzalez back. As for Ortiz he just disgusts me.

I think the dbacks should trade Mullohand and Ortiz for a quality left handed reliever. We should leave the young guns as they are and not ruin this great 5 man rotation, but what do I know, I am just a fan. Who are they going to take out for Ortiz?

What happned to Ortiz? Being a red sox fan im not up to date with the Dbacks. I do remember when they signed he was coming off a great year with the Braves. Also do you guys still have Javier Vasquez and if so how is he doing. I think New York put to much pressure on him. By the way i love the diamondbacks stadium it is very nice.

Ortiz plumited after coming to our fine state he was under .500 last year and was on the DL for a while and this year he is even worse. As for Vasquez we traded him to the White Sox for Orlando Hernandez, Luis Vizcieno, and a good minor league prospect by the name of Chris Young. Hernandez was unhappy here and was reasently traded to the Mets for Jorge Jolio, Vizcieno has done well as a set up man, and Chris Young is playing center-field for AAA Tucson.

Baseball is the greatest sport I know. But to me, on a par, is football (soccer to most of you). The greatest show on Earth (The World Cup) starts on Friday.
It is still bigger than the olympics.
I will be starting a totally new, non-baseball, blog for the duration of the competition.

I agree with akunsberg, when I saw that Ortiz was coming back my hart fell, We finally get something going and boom they send down Gonzalez and bring back Ortiz a guy who can't make 5 innings and when players get on base he starts freaking out. I Know we paid a lot of money fo him, but lets trade Ortiz and our 43 year old left hander, I think the dbacks should trade Mullohand and Ortiz for a quality left handed reliever. We should leave the young guns as they are and not ruin this great 5 man rotation, but what do I know, I am just a fan. Who are they going to take out for Ortiz?
